For starters, I loved Egypt. When we arrived back in Jerusalem, everyone in the center crashed for a few days because we were going non-stop for eight days. I learned so much, saw so much, and got to meet one of my favorite Egyptians ever. Meet THE Toooter. (He was our tour guide for the week and told us the first name that our group name would be "Toot" (like Tut but definitely pronounced Toot).
We wore headsets every day with the Tooter's voice blasting through our ears. Common phrases he uttered multiple times the entire week:
1. "Wake up Lazy Toots."
2. "You believe this? Yes or not?"
3. Toots? COME ON TOOTS." (thick Egyptian accent on all of these phrases)
3. "Move more closer Toots."
Anyways, Day 1 we loaded the buses for the long haul to Egypt. Let's just say long bus rides really bond a group together. We loaded the buses in Jerusalem as friendly pals shall we say. By the bus ride back to Jerusalem, we were having literal dance parties on the bus via the bus sound system (side note: the dance party took place while we were going through the area that would have been Sodom and Gomorrah. We made sure to dance to really sketchy music during this time for the full effect. You know like Dynamite, Waka Waka, Irreplaceable (love Beyonce), oh and Bye bye miss American Pie. haha it was wild let me tell you.
Day 1 we stopped at Beer'Sheva (established by Abraham and used as a government and military base as well.)
Just to clear things up, yes I am wearing a fanny pack. And yes I am practically wearing a grey jumpsuit.
We also went to Tel Arad which was cool because it is the only temple complex that has been discovered and excavated dedicated to Yahuweh (God's holy name during the Early Bronze Age).
We stayed overnight at a kibbutze (communal Jewish farm) which I have to blog about separately because I think it's fascinating and we went to contemplate in the desert and slid down sand dunes. I'll save that for later though!
